Why the New York Knicks decided it was a good idea to give then 38 year old center Marcus Camby a three year, $14 million dollar deal last year, we’ll never know.
What we do know though is Camby didn’t exactly enjoy his bench role last year and according to his agent, not only does he plan to return for the 2013-14 season, he wants a bigger role.
Per ESPN New York:
Camby’s agent Richard Kaplan told ESPNNewYork.com on Thursday that the 17-year-veteran is committed to returning next season to be the backup center.“The game plan is still the same,” Kaplan said. “There’s no reason to believe he won’t be back and won’t take on a greater role next season.”“He is focused on being ready to go at the start of the season, since we certainly expect his number to be called far more often next season,” Kaplan said.
The one time UMass product played in just 24 games last season for the Knicks, averaging 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in about 10 minutes per contest.
